On July 24, 2026, Kuraray Co., Ltd. published an article on its official WeChat account concerning an intellectual property and unfair competition dispute involving our company. As certain statements in the article may cause misunderstanding, we would like to clarify the key facts as follows:
Dongguan Qun An Plastic Industrial Co., Ltd. was established in 2015 and is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of SGP ionoplast interlayers. We possess a comprehensive portfolio of intellectual property rights, including patents and trademarks.
In 2017, our company compiled the first edition of the SuperSafeGlas Ionoplast Interlayer Processing Guide. At that time, technical reference materials in the industry were relatively limited, and we referred to publicly available literature published by DuPont in the United States, as well as publications and technical materials from several domestic experts.
The guide was subsequently revised several times in 2020, 2023, and 2025, with the technical content gradually developed and independently optimized by our company.
In August 2025, Kuraray filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against our company. Following two rounds of judicial proceedings, the court ruled that an amount of RMB 54,349.82, including the court acceptance fee, was payable.
Our company is currently preparing to apply to the Guangdong High People's Court for a retrial with respect to the facts and evidentiary materials involved in the case, in order to clarify the facts and protect our legitimate rights and interests.
After more than ten years of technical development and experience, our company has comprehensively optimized the processing parameters for temperature control, pressure holding, autoclave unloading, vacuuming, and other key processes. The latest edition of the Qun An SGP Ionoplast Interlayer Processing Guide reflects our independently developed technical knowledge and intellectual property. Customers can therefore continue to use our products and processing guidance with confidence.
Our company has developed a portfolio of trademarks in China and overseas, including SGP, SGX, and SuperSafeGlas.
With regard to SGX, although it was ultimately determined that the trademark could not be used for goods and services in Class 17, our company remains entitled to use the SGX trademark within other classes of services for which it has been approved by the relevant authorities. This will not affect our normal production or business operations.
With regard to SuperSafeGlas, our company prevailed in the dispute concerning Class 17. The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) rejected Kuraray's application. Kuraray subsequently initiated legal proceedings against the CNIPA because it disagreed with the decision. Our company is participating in the proceedings as a third party, and the case is currently under review by the court.
At the initial stage of our joint R&D efforts with South China University of Technology, our company and the university jointly obtained an invention patent relating to ionoplast interlayer technology.
In 2022, in connection with a large-scale project valued at nearly RMB 50 million, our company successfully assisted the customer in resolving an intellectual property dispute by relying on our comprehensive invention patents and intellectual property portfolio.
Intellectual property competition between domestic Chinese brands and international industry leaders is a long-term and complex process. Qun An has always been committed to standing at the forefront of this field. We firmly believe that China's domestically developed ionoplast interlayer products will ultimately enter the global market and demonstrate the strength of Chinese manufacturing.
